KEPOS
KEPOS is an urban common: a prototypical architectural strategy that reimagines the communal garden for post-digital society.
The installation actively engages citizens and showcases the potential of information and communication technology in public space for interaction and participation, raising interest in architecture and public space among a broader audience.
KEPOS is a full-scale prototype of an interactive urban sculpture, realized at the University of Applied Arts Vienna by the Departments of Energy Design and Urban Strategies within the framework of the project Active Public Space (APS). Developed under the supervision of Galo Moncayo and Anna Gulinska, together with Angelica Lorenzi and Dennis Schiaroli, the intervention connects the physical environment - built as much as natural - with the digital world of information exchange.
Combining knowledge on smart materials, citizen participation, urban strategies, and energy design, KEPOS puts into practice the skills developed during the APS design workshops in Vienna, Prague, and Barcelona. It highlights architecture's integrating and innovative role in sustainable urban development while creating a sense of community that extends beyond a single locality and is defined through acts of care.
