Fragments of a sentence hover in the dark, assembling and dissolving before they can be fully grasped. Words appear as pulses of light, quiero, hablar, contigo, only to be interrupted by hesitation, absence, or silence, sin decirte nada. Meaning flickers between presence and disappearance, never fully resolving. The work opens a fragile space of connection, where the desire to speak and to reach another is constantly negotiated with the impossibility of saying everything. What emerges is not a fixed statement, but a shifting field of intentions: partial confessions, interrupted gestures, and suspended communication.
The installation approaches language as a dynamic and unstable system, where communication is produced through fragmentation, chance, and temporal alignment. Each word functions as an autonomous element, and their random activation generates temporary syntactic relations without ever stabilizing into a complete sentence. In this way, the work reflects on communication and connection by foregrounding their inherent fragility. Desire, contradiction, and the tension between speech and silence circulate through the piece, as the impulse to connect, quiero hablar contigo, is repeatedly interrupted by sin decirte nada. By remaining in Spanish, the work situates language as both intimate and specific, while also introducing distance and partial access for those outside it.
The installation consists of six independent light units, each composed of seven white LEDs. Through rapid flickering and stroboscopic sequencing, each unit generates a single word that becomes legible only through motion and persistence of vision. The units activate at random intervals, producing constantly shifting combinations that form and dissolve over time. Developed in collaboration with artist Angel Nunez, the work was exhibited in Berlin and later as part of Globo Sonda (2007) at MUSAC, Leon, Spain, where it is now part of the museum's collection.
